What a tragedy for the Chapman family

I heard about the death of Steven Curtis Chapman’s daughter yesterday morning. What a tragedy. For those of you who haven’t heard, according to the Tennessean,
Maria, one of the Christian singer’s six children, was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Hospital, which confirmed the death, according to Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The 5-year-old was hit by an SUV driven by her teenage brother, she said. Police did not give the driver’s name.
The teen was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser down the driveway of the rural home at about 5:30 p.m. and several children were playing in the area, McPherson said. He did not see Maria in the driveway before the vehicle struck her, she said.
“It appears to be a terrible accident,’’ McPherson said.
No charges are expected, she said. The accident was witnessed by two other children; the entire family was home at the time, McPherson said.
I can’t imagine loosing one of my children. Our prayers go out to the family who in the last 2 weeks has celebrated Maria’s birthday, the oldest daughter’s engagement, and a son’s high school graduation and now the loss of one of their own.
I am going to go kiss my sleeping children now…

Oh my goodness! How horrible!!!! I normally don’t watch Oprah, but today they were talking about accidental deaths such as this one. Before we got into the van tonight I said a prayer for God to keep us all safe and to protect us while we travel. You just never know what might be near.
I do that more and more these days.
I can not even imagine what they are going through. Even a small fleeting thought of losing the boy sends me to a fit of tears!
There are lessons for all of us in the Steven Curtis Chapman double tragedy where the youngest son accidentally kills the youngest daughter. How do you deal with such grief? With faith, hope and love. That explains my essay, which if you wish, you can read here: ‘Good Grief! Steven Curtis Chapman, please don’t be Sue-sad’ (http://frankahilario.blogspot.com/).
We have been praying for them since we found out last week.
