Happy November thrifty people. Let’s see what’s cool (and less expensive) to to purchase in November. PS my birthday is this month, so it’s a good month for my pals to shop
– Just kidding.
Toys are a great November buy, with stores gearing up for holiday purchase, they lower prices – right now. Wait too long, and you’ll be paying last minute holiday toy prices.
Health insurance is usually open enrollment during November. That also means if you already have a plan it’s a good time to fine tune it, change options, or make other changes. One good bet is to increase your deductible, which will lower your rates. This of course is best for folks who basically receive primary care and maybe one or two prescriptions per year.
Baking supplies always go on sale this time of year, so it’s a handy time to stock up on basics like, chocolate chips, spices, condensed milk, and canned fruit pie filling. Just don’t go bulk crazy and buy stuff that’ll go rancid before you use it (i.e. flour and other grains).
Consumer Reports notes that new automobiles, bikes, computers, and gas grills are thrifty November buys. Who knows on the cars though, apparently, other sites note September and October as excellent car buying months. I think the auto industry is just paying people to say every month is a good month to buy a car. What do you think?
If you’ve got any November money saving purchases to point out, do so in the comments, so we can all save more money.
