What to buy in September

Happy September thrifty folks. Here are some items that may be well priced during September…

I’ve heard that new cars are a good deal in September, with newer year models appearing in October. I’m not so sure because car deals seem icky no matter when you shop, but September is one month I’ve heard over and over noted as being a good month so…? It’s possible. Do you have any September car shopping experiences - I may be taking this personally, because oddly enough I’m car shopping right now, and dealing with nothing but shifty people.

Apartments & houses for rent - ok, you may not get a better deal on a home simply by shopping in September, but you may have a better choice. Many places are freshly moved out of in August because families move before school starts, folks vacate to a place closer to college, and so fourth. There aren’t so many folks moving in September.

End of September - look for school supply clearance. This includes overstocked snacks and lunch supplies that grocery stores overestimated a need for.

Do you have any September purchasing secrets to share?

Tees are cheap everywhere right now.

With the house thing, it’s difficult to say. In some areas, the houses were snatched up because parents wanted to get their kids in a certain school district.

I think they say Aug/Sept is a good time to shop for cars because if you are looking for a new car, they are trying to get rid of this years models in preparation for next years models. Other than that I’ve not seen any good times to buy a car, if you are lookin amongst used cars.

I know that it used to be a good idea to buy cars in September for the very reason that Sputter says, but in todays car market, different companies introduce the new models as early as April, so depending on what you are shopping for last years model may be at it’s best deal in May… This year though GM had the zero percent interest on many of their new models, zero percent on $18,000 for 5 years is alot of savings, so we bought a new car in april…And it better last til retirement (2014)!
