I prefer the hormone-free (RBST-free) milk, and my family goes through at least three gallons a week.

Here in Los Angeles, I can get it at Albertsons for $5.89 per gal, or Trader Joe's for around $3.99 per gal.

I've discovered there is home delivery of dairy in my neighborhood. They deliver the exact milk I want for $5/gallon.

Milk at $5/gallon is a big part of my grocery budget, but it is cheaper than at Albertsons, and if the milk comes to me, I have less need to pop into the store.

Less visits to the store = less buying other things.

I'm actually saving money by not going into the grocery store when I'm low on milk.

I try to buy my milk at Costco, where it's been as low as $3.39 a gallon the last time I was there. (I live in Greensboro, NC)

Lately, though, we haven't been to Costco (except to get gas), so I've picked up milk at Aldi for about $3.49 a gallon.

I'm lucky that I live just minutes away from Costco, but it seems that lately I haven't even had the time to make a quick dash in for milk. So, we've been paying a little bit more at Aldi. What's 10 cents a gallon when your a time-strapped mom?

I am amazed at the variety of prices for milk throughout the country. Here in N.C., our gas prices are relatively low (compared to other parts of the country) but milk seems to be quite a bit higher.

I buy mine mostly at ALDI now since they seem to be the lowest in price around where I live and I need to get both whole and skim. I pay $2.39 for a gallon of skim these days

You all apparently need to move further west. I buy milk at Smith's (which I believe is the same thing as Kroger). It fluctuates between $2.20-$2.50 a gallon on sale. Which it is usually on sale every week. If it is down to 2.20 we stock up, but there are only two of us drinking it, so not too much.

I buy mine at Whole Foods or Reasors, depending on where I am when we need it, but we only use a 1/2 gallon per month (if that). It'd have to be REALLY cheap to make it worth going anywhere else. LOL!

wow sounds like I need to move out to the country more and get some pets. You know I've tried convincing hubby as I'm no city girl and hate it out here. Maybe that can help.

we get it from Walmart, that is unless we want to drive up to Costco. We only do that though when we do our monthly shopping.
