You know what’s expensive? Falling off a ladder…

During the holidays more people fall from ladders than at any other time of the year. This is a costly medical mistake, not to mention painful. To avoid a tumble this season make sure to…

  • Keep your ladder on level secure ground.
  • Stay centered on the rails as you climb.
  • Never stand on the top two ladder rails – yeah, I’ve done it too, but this year, let’s not.
  • Space your ladder one foot away from the wall, tree, or side of your house for each four feet your ladder reaches.
  • Always extend your ladder beyond the roof, if the roof is where you’re going.
  • And the most simple – make sure you lock the ladder. So many people fail to check this one small thing.

So this year, hang lights, hang decor, put that star on the tree, just don’t ruin the holidays with a costly emergency room visit.

  1. ~Dawn says:

The 1 by 4 rule is one of the greatest rules that I know. Many an issue has been alleviate because of this.

Yeah, when I was building a house we tried to always do this – sometimes impossible with land slant, but it does work at solving accidents.

  3. Yes, these are every important tips, I wished my husband would have followed such! YIKES! We avoided a trip to the E.R. but instead had to endure his back ache for days.

    Thanks -Machelle
