Your Help is Wanted

November 27, 2007 by Karen Weideman

My children have some money saved from their birthdays and they’ll be getting some money for Christmas too.  I am looking to replace their very old television.  I want to spend $200 or less.  Normally, there are tvs at awesome prices on Black Friday, but I didn’t find any this year.  I saw one last night in the hhgregg sales paper for a Samsung 20″ Ultra SlimFit Flat-Tube CRT for $199.97.  I’m not convinced that that’s the best deal.  If you find any super deals on televisions, I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know.  Thanks!

I think you can do a lot better than $200. As much as I dislike going into Walmart (especially with the extra congestion of people and overstocked aisles during the holidays). They usually have a 19″ for around $100. I bought one similar to the one (if not the same) at the link below for less than $100 last year in-store.

    Good luck on your search!

Thanks John. Honestly, I really didn’t want to spend $200. I know tvs have become more advanced since I last bought one. lol I was going to make a trip to Sam’s and Wal-Mart to see what they had to offer. I really wanted a Black Friday special of $70 like they were offering last year. No such luck.

    um… freecycle?

Twig, Unfortunately I haven’t had much luck with Freecycle. Even if I respond within seconds of the item being listed, I don’t get the item. I don’t understand. I continue responding to emails from people. I was able to receive a few items of clothing for my son, which was nice. I was able to pass along our almost new crutches to someone in need, which was nice to bless them with something that was just sitting in the closet. Right now I’m in the process of helping a family with 4 boys. I am trying to find them some gently used or new toys so that they can have something to open on Christmas. My neighbor had a tv sitting out by the curb for the trash collectors yesterday. Unfortunately it was raining. Otherwise, I would have stopped and asked them if the tv worked. Thanks for responding.
