If you’ve been around church folk much, then you’ll know that Baptists are known for fellowshipping (aka eating). LOL!!! Sometimes you can find some great dishes at these fellowship meals. Last week I discovered broccoli salad. I’d never had it before and it is yummy! Thanks to Vivian for sharing the recipe with me.
Broccoli Salad
3 heads of fresh broccoli, chopped
8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 packs Oscar Mayer bacon bits
1/2 large purple onion, sliced thin
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, one or both)
Mix together in a bowl.
Dressing – mix in a separate bowl
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1 tbsp black pepper
1 1/3 cups Kraft mayonnaise
Optional – 2 tsp salt
Mix dressing separately and pour over ingredients in bowl.

I do a similar recipe but I omit the cheese and add raisins.
Thanks for sharing, Sarah. I’m sure there are many different variations of this recipe. The vinegar in this recipe reminded me of the ramen noodle salad recipe I posted on a few months ago. It was yummy too!
I love this salad! I omit the nuts on my version.
Julie, I enjoyed the nice crunch of the walnuts, but I understand that some just don’t care for nuts. I’m sure it’s good without the nuts too.
