A Lesson from A Cemetery

I can’t remember who said it but someone said something like “The most valuable land in the world is the cemetery, think of all the treasures, the books not written, the ideas laying dormant”
When you think about it, it is true. Our loved ones had dreams, our loved ones talked about doing things that now no longer will be possible….one lesson as widows and widowers we should take from that, is that we should spend our time living that dream before it is too late.
Dreams, ideas are just that, unless we find a way of making them reality. If the death should tell us one thing then we should think about how we can take our dreams and bring them to life, rather than taking them to our grave.
So what are your dreams, what dreams did you have together that you could still do? How can you take these valuable assets that lie dormant in death, and bring them alive? ![]()
In our grief, let us not let those dreams drift, let us not let those dreams die…..let us put those dreams at the centre of our life and ensure that the years we have left are years that are meaningful to both us and the world….

Dreams… I think I am too early in my widowhood to have any dreams to pursue. Greg and I had lots of plans/dreams to do after retirement, and some of them are not ones that I would like to do with other women. So… maybe do them solo, or not at all.
More immediately – I have survived Hurricane Ike, and if you want a summary of that experience, please read this posting on my blog: http://akanancydrew.blogspot.com/2008/09/ike-chronicles-part-i.html
Not an experience I want to repeat! Today is my first day back at work – they had no power at this building until sometime yesterday. Mary mentioned that some at this blog were wondering about me, so thought I would share that I have returned to the land of power and internet. Yay, to the repair people from many states. We in this area are SO grateful!!
Oh Jessica I am so glad you are OK, I know a few of us were worried about you, knowing that you were near the hurricane. Glad to have you back, we miss you when you are away you know!
On the dream front..did you dream of doing something when you grew up, that you could do now as a sense of achieving something?
