Widows Quest

A Smile A Day Takes The Loneliness Away

I often get asked “How do I feel better?”

Oh, I so wish that there was an easy answer and there isn’t…..but there is one thing that can make a big difference…..SMILE.

S= Smiling is wonderfully contagious…the more you smile, the more people smile at you…the more happier you feel.

M= Make sure that you smile at yourself in the mirror….look and say into the mirror “You are doing so well, you will get through this because you deserve to be happy”

I= In smiling at others, you are creating value in the world by making others feel better. Just think how you feel when someone smiles…that is the power of a smile, it connects and takes away the loneliness.

L= Learn to trick your mind. You will be feeling pain, the more you smile the more you are tricking your brain to feel happier. We control our own emotions…we can chose our emotion. The more we smile, the more we are influencing our mind to “feel happier”

E=  Ensure that you surround yourself normally with smiles. I have photo’s of family and friends smiling inlittlegirl.jpg my house. I offer to babysit, as children are wonderful at smiling and at making you smile (and you are doing someone a favour!) and I also ensure that I spend time with positive people…people that get me thinking of solutions and the future, rather than the problems and the past.

Smiles are free but are the greatest stress and pain relief that you can use….and remember smiling does   not mean that you have forgotten it means that you are learning to cope which is a good thing.
