A story of hope

I want to share a story with you…..a friend who I will call Jean lost her beloved husband. Jean was quite a talker, but had never been out socially without her husband. She lived for 15 months waiting for people to call at her house, as she grew more and more fearful of social gatherings.
One day a long term friend arrived and said “I am just on my way shopping would you like to come?”…after trying to find reasons of why not she eventually gave in. To cut a long story short that day she met a neighbour in town who asked if she would join her at an aerobic class, then life started to change
The friend picked her up and she went to aerobics where she met 3 other people who had lost their husbands and knew the pain
1 invited her to her sports club which led to going to their dinner dance which led to 6 more friends which led to her joining the club!
1 invited her to join them on a shopping trip which led to more friends and her joining a community group
1 invited her to meet with her group for fellow widows each week which led to many more friends and lots of trips out planned.![]()
Result this shy person in the space of a month, has started to build confidence. I spoke to her last night and she is busy every day next week and cannot find time for me to call! Wow, fantastic and her husband would be so proud of her. One small “Yes” to the shopping trip has led to a whole new world……..the path has been hard, but it shows hope for all.
