Here at Widows Quest we understand the value of life, the need cherish the our world and the lives of our children. Today many people are taking part in Blog Action Day. The idea of the day is that we all post about the environment to raise awareness of the impact that we all have, and how we can make a difference. I wanted to participate for two reasons
1) One grief teaches you that you can take nothing for granted..especially the idea of life.
2) We often talk about giving ourselves a focus, a goal to overcome the feeling of depression…well here is me doing something that gives my dear reason.
So what have I done to help the environment today?
I walked to the shops rather than go in the car…and not only helped the environment but my body as well.
I got out of the waste paper bin, old envelopes and scraps of paper…and put them together as notepads near the phone.
I only filled the kettle with a small amount of water instead of right to the top.
Small steps, I know but the enviromental issues would all be helped by each of us taking a few small steps at a time.
This is a Blogtoberfest Sponsored Post. If you would like to enter for a chance to win the gift behind this blog, please leave a comment. Prize and Winner will be announced within a week. Check back to see if you’re the lucky winner and what you’ve won!
This event is open to everyone in the U.S. and Canada

If only everyone would just take those small steps, we would soon see a BIG difference!
What a great way to start a change. I am slowly starting to make some changes to help the environment also. I purchased a reusable water container and stopped purchasing bottled water.
We recycle everything for our garbage pick up. It’s a pain but I hope it makes a difference. Every piece of plastic and paper and cardboard. Soda cans, metal cans, everything that the recycling company will take. I even shred my junk mail and put it in there.
We are leaving this world to our children, it is our responsibility to try to leave it better than we found it.
Amie
Good for everybody! I have been trying to walk to places as much as possible and I re-use all our junk mail for scrap paper. My husband and I have been working on getting our showers down to less than 10 minutes as well!
I try to recycle, buy local/organic, use freecycle etc. If we all do our part our children may still enjoy this beautiful planet.
Affirming your own set of values by taking action according to what harms the environment the least is by far the most important mindshift one can take.
Granted saving a few peices of paper here and there may not save the Polar Bears, but believing that we need to take our environment into account and acting upon that belief is the most important, fulfilling, and viral action we can create. It feels good and we help spread this mindset to those around us.
Thank you for sharing your contributions. Its good to hear other peoples story. Personally, I walk and take trains, when I am in a car I make sure we don’t go over 70 mph because it burns much more gas, bring home scrap paper from the office and use it as my notebook paper, and of course buy local organic food amongst a many other things.
Thank you and take care.
Thank you for participating in Blog Action Day. I think that constructive action is an excellent way to deal with grief.
I did not participate. However, I wrote a belated post of my own about an environmental issue that might strike a cord with some of your readers. Please share it with them:
BRAZILIAN TEAK FLOORS, SLAVE LABOR, AND THE DESTRUCTION OF THE RAIN FOREST.
You can find it at:

Anything that you can do to help promote awareness of this issue will be greatly appreciated. Normally, I don’t ask for this kind of help, but the issue is that important to me.
Thank you!
