I was looking online today with a friend who has just lost her niece in tragic circumstances. She was trying to find the right music for her sister, for the funeral and we came across this site – Funeral Ideas- which has the top songs played at children’s funerals. i thought I would share the links just in case there are people out there faced with such a tragic young death.
Gosh, it brought a tear to my eye, there really is something so wrong about the loss of a child. I struggle to cope with death but if then you make it a child….well, my heart goes out to anyone in that position.
Borrowed Angels by Kristin Chenwith
You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban and child choir from Africa
Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton
In The Arms of An Angel by Sarah McClachlan
In My Daughter’s Eyes by Martina McBride
Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel
When The River Meets The Sea by John Denver and The Muppets
Come Some Rainy Day by Wynonna Judd
God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You by N-Sync
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep by Twila Paris

Thank you for this list. It was extremely helpful during a terrible time.
Im trying to pick the perfect song to play at my neice’s funeral. My brother and sister in law were expecting their first child which happened to be a girl. My sister in law had complications with her pregnancy and the baby just wasnt growing the way it was supposed to. So they delivered her at 7 months. We were told that there was an 90% chance that the baby would be still born. Amazingly the baby was still living at 13 ounces. We got to spend some time with her before she passed the following day. She was such a strong little girl and I will miss her dearly. Tears are running down my eyes as I remember holding her in the family room. She was so tiny and fragile but man was she strong to have fought for so long giving us the chance to see her alive. Please, if you can recommend a song, I would really appreciate it.
Oh gosh….I am so sorry. The song that immediately springs to mind is Heaven by Eric Clapton which was his song dedicated to his son who died. But songs are a very personal decision. Was this their first child because another thought would be for other children in the family to chose the song?
My heart goes out to you it really does….please let me know what you choose
