Dealing with Finances as a widow

Dealing with all the finances can be so difficult and a site that can help is unwanted change I am a Chartered Accountant by trade so therefore finance has never had a fear for me, but this paragraph on the site brought home to me the difficulties….

“In fact AARP research shows that of the estimated 13 million widowed Americans, more than 11 million of them are women. What’s more, 80 to 90 percent of all women have never handled their finances before. That means that the vast majority of women haven’t had experience in handling their own finances yet they will need to manage money on their own at some point in their lives.”

If you are frightened by the thought of dealing with the finances always remember there is support for you. Many support groups help, friends and family, the internet and also professional services such as accountants. The key is to not be afraid of asking for help,  we all have our strengths, we all have our areas that we need help…there is no shame in asking others. I  had to seek help on trusts and I am an accountant. Grief is difficult, painful and if you can ease some of the worries by seeking help then you should….
