It does take awhile to gather one's strength to be able to contemplate a future. This past year has been one of healing and recuperation for me. Your blog has helped me tremendously. Last night I had a phone conversation with a friend that I last saw in December. He found a marked difference in my attitude about life. Before, I had been looking back on the loss of my life with my husband. I was coping pretty well with the change in circumstances. But I was having a hard time imagining what my new life would be like. Now these are the things I'm looking forward to: a reunion with my sisters in May and a trip to San Francisco in July or August. Tomorrow I'm interviewing to be matched as a mentor for a girl in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. I didn't rush out to make changes but I've been trying to open my heart to new opportunities. To anyone else just starting this journey, I want to lend a word of encouragement. Your heart can heal one day at a time. When you look back next year, you'll see how far you've come!
