Widows Quest

How to Cope with Grief

Grief is hard, and how we cope and grow through the experience is different for each widow or widower. But here is a little story for you

I was sat in the park when an old lady took the place by the side of me. She looked and asked what was wrong

“How do you learn to breath again?”

She replied “One breath at a time”

“But how do your eye’s learn not to cry?”

She replied “One blink at a time”

“How does your heart learn not to break?”

She replied “One beat at a time”

And how do you learn to laugh again?”

She replied “One smile at a time”

I turned and said “It feels like a steep mountain to climb”

She turned and said “Agh yes my dear, but you can climb mountains – if you take it one step at a time

Actually this was a dream that I had the other night….I woke up thinking just one step at a time and wanted to share it with everyone. Funny how the mind works even when you are asleep isn’t it
