I made it my priority to pay off all the medical bills and credit cards. By having several auctions and receiving the small life insurance payment, I was able to reduce our debt to zero. I have managed to set aside an emergency fund while still living comfortably. I know its not possible for everyone to do this. However, the emergency fund would benifit everyone. Its a relief knowing I can handle things for a short time if the my situation turns sour.
