Widows Quest

I love my mum

I love my mum and even more since Dad died. She is a born worrier and not the easiest person but her unconditional love has supported me throughout the years. Today she got diagnosed with a heart complaint and though I don’t think itpicture-or-video-014.jpg is a major concern at this stage – she is 76 mind you (on the left in the photo) – it makes you wonder. Losing dad was hard and I cannot imagine life without mum. Grief in the past makes you realise how much a loss affects you. Normally I wouldn’t worry but now I know that parents are not eternal. They grow older and you never know when the unexpected will happen.

I want to make sure that I have no regrets and therefore I have given myself 3 actions

  • Tell her I love her more often
  • Be there for her whenever I can – I live about 1.5 hours away from her
  • Help her love life over whatever – hopefully years – that she has left.

If there is a positive that you can take from bereavement it is that you never undervalue a life again, a life of someone you love is precious….my motto…don’t put off until tomorrow what you can say today.
