Inspired to put my grief in writing

April 25, 2007 by Anna Farmery

This week I posted about a young girl who wrote a story to help other children with theirpensandbooks.jpg grief. I kept thinking how therapeutic it must be and therefore I have started to write my story down – not to publish, not to sell, just for me. I have written a couple of chapters and it is really helping me come to terms with some feelings. I thought I might share it with my family – we are not at talking about feelings, too embarrassing! – and I thought it might help them understand how I felt and how I coped. Has anyone else done something similar?

I have started to do the same thing. I have lost a lot of people in my life, like my Father, two Grandparents and my Fiancé. I thought that writing down those experiences would help me and it has. I encourage everyone to do this, just getting the feelings out helps even if no one ever reads them.
