Widows Quest

Is there such a thing as love craving?

Does anyone feel that inner craving for love, for passion ? I keep watching romantic love films as a way of satisfying that inner need of ..feeling love, of feeling that intense emotion when two people lose themselves completely in each other.

I wonder whether the love stories feed the need or satisfy the need?

I have always been a romantic and to some extent always needed the belief of love to feed my soul! I find that now I hide that side, or I show that side when I am alone with the films. That makes me so sad, so empty.

I dream of the day that I maybe find that person who will fall in love with that romantic side again and heartwith-sea.JPG….. and once more I am whole again, but maybe that will never be possible?

Oh Anna, you have put my feelings into words. I too have that inner craving for passion that I do my best to put away, but find through romantic movies old and new. I try to rent them and watch them by myself so the sobbing doesn’t embarrass my children and friends.

I have been widowed for 6 years this month, and this sadness of being alone just seems to get deeper, my children are doing well, but as they are growing up and out I seem to see myself living in the retirement home with all of the other widowed ladies having conversations over bland dinners.

I felt still married for a long time, even though my husband was no longer here, now my secret fear is that this is it, alone forever and I am only 50. Today at church for Easter, I found that now I see myself in the old women who are alone, I used to relate to the older couples who seemed so happy. One elderly woman showed up in her red vw convertible, I wanted to compliment her for still staying engaged in life.

Thanks for putting it into words, you are an inspiration every day.

Sara – Do you get obsesses with things as well? I find that I become lost in all sorts of things ?

I would love to know if Church gives you some solace? I wish that I had faith, but just can’t seem to believe despite wanting to?

I write from the heart and if that gives people hope or comfort then it makes my day as I just want to reach out and support other widows/widowers……

Anna, I get obsessed in all sorts of things, remodeling, crosswords, the PBS Romantic series CDs, you name it. I am afraid of being one of those crazy ladies with too many cats that is more than a little nutty.

Church, and my friends at church, have given me a lot of solace, especially at first, I could feel a tangible love. Since then it has ebbed and flowed, sometimes I find great comfort and sometimes God feels very far away.

The fact that you write from the heart is what makes your blog so wonderful, do you find that the rest of the world would like you to just be ok, so that is what you try to be?

Oh Sara first of all I just have this image of you obsessed and laughing as I think that may be me as well….I have watched one film 6 times this week and before I would never watch a film more than once.

I think you are right….I think we try to be who we think people want us to be, and sometimes those people just want us to be us!!
