Widows Quest

New Idea for Widows Quest for 2007

I really love sharing stories, helping others with their grief. I have been wondering how else I can help, and I am light-bulb.jpgthinking of doing a weekly podcast in 2007 in which I will share my thoughts and also stories from the listeners on remembering their loved ones, how they coped, pragmatic advice and also share some poetry that maybe some of you have written…what do you think? Would it help? Would you help me by sharing your stories with me?

    Here is a poem I recieved from a friend.

    The Dash

    I read of a man, who stood to speak at the funeral for a friend;
    he referred to the dates on her tombstone from beginning to end.

    He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the second with tears
    but he said that what mattered most of all, was the dash between those years.

    For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth,
    and now only those who loved her know what that little line was worth.

    For it matters not how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash
    what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash

    So think about this long and hard, are there things you’d like to change?
    for you never know how much time is left (you could be at “dash mid-range”)

    If we just slow down enough to consider what is true and real,
    and always try to understand the way other people feel

    And be less quick to anger show appreciation more
    and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before

    If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile
    remembering that this special dash, might only last a little while

    So, when your eulogy is being read with your life’s actions to rehash;
    would you be pleased with the things they have to say about how you spent your dash?

    Thank you for contributing – would you like to come on the show and talk about your experiences? I plan to start it early Janaury?

    Anna,
    Sure I would love to share my experience with other people. Just let me know when…
