We have some wonderful people in our Widows Quest community. One of those people is Leslie who has just moved into a new house, you can read her feelings in the comments to Grief Has Made Me Emotional.
I cried when I read her thoughts..why? Because I hate people hurting…I so wish that I had a magic bereavement wand that would take away all our pain.
But it made me think about how we emotionally attach to objects….mmmm…but then is it really the object that we attach to? In Leslie’s case it is a house, with me it is a jumper! But …read more

As you can see Widows Quest has been given a little bit of a makeover and has joined the Blisstree family. Now don’t worry it is still little old Anna writing – not sure if that is a blessing or not! – and together we will continue to take each day as it comes and keep moving forward through our grief
Because one thing is certain – I believe we are stronger together as a community

I need to know if you’re my true friend,

A blogging friend requires our help and I know what a fantastic community we all are at Widows Quest.
Marijke who writes the wonderful Help My Hurt blog and as part of another site called Seniors Support has “designed a survey on living wills that I have a very ambitious goal for – 1000 responses. I have a little over 100 now …. I’m trying to get responses from all sorts of groups, from seniors themselves to gen x-ers, to the so-called sandwich generation and just about anyone else.
I wonder whether some of your readers would help me achieve my goal …read more

For any widow or widower who is trying to look forward on the next stage of their lives, who is trying to set targets or even remind themselves of the positives that honestly do exist in your life Then I have found a website called Lets Reflect - which describes itself as “a community that believes you can reach your full potential through a process called ”Reflecting”
Here is an example of a Let’s Reflect page which has favourite quotes, goals, what you are grateful for, accomplishments etc
For anyone who wants a public declaration and who wants a way of forming their reflections on life then this is a good site to start from. {Photo from iStockphoto}

Early this year I posted about my aims for 2007 back in January which looked like…
Publish the Widows Quest podcast by 12 January and keep to a weekly schedule.
Lose 2 stone in weight(28lbs)
Join a community group to support others with bereavement.
Achieve a life/work balance by downsizing both my career and my lifestyle.
Move house – back nearer to my family and friends.
I am proud to say that (3) and (4) have been achieved! I am disappointed to say that my house is still for sale so (5) is still on hold. As for (2) well the news is superb as I …read more
