Reading Support for Bereavement

When we suffer grief, we need support – I know that I was desperate to “find the answer” to feeling better, finding ways of making it through that dark tunnel. I came across this list of bereavement publications that may help you come to terms with the death. For me reading was helpful for 3 reasons
1) Understanding that I was not alone, that people did understand how I felt.
2) Tips on how to cope with depression, how to move forward, how to cope with grief.
3) Support network of friends

“My husband died last year and the grief has been overwhelming. One tip I would give people, is to keep one or two items visibly on show, but don’t make the house a shrine. My mum starts a fitness group at 76!

It is true, my mum has many friends who have lost their husbands or wives…..she was feeling down with winter now bringing the dark nights, so she decided with her friends to start an exercise group. The reason is that when it is dark she doesn’t feel like going out, then she feels depressed, then she eats for comfort…so they came up with this idea. They force themselves out with people who understand, it takes their mind off the grief, they get fit not fat, and it fills in the time during the darker hours.
