Dealing with Childrens Grief

I was reading an article called Navigating Life After Death over at The Age. It made me think how we block out memories when often it is best to keep those memories. For instance with children removing memories could hurt more than keeping the memory alive. In one example
“One little girl wouldn’t have it. “Where’s that old chair that sat there? That’s where I used to sit on my daddy’s knee!” Her mother traced the buyer through the thrift shop and put it under the Christmas tree. “
