Online Meeting for Widows and Widowers
June 12, 2009 by Anna Farmery
As we have enjoyed meeting online for the last two months, I thought I would try and arrange a session for July. If you want to speak to other people who understand about grief, who will listen and share their tips on coping with bereavement…then why not sign up at our widows quest wiki. On the site are 3 suggested dates 2nd, 3rd or 4th July….let me know which one would work for you. We base it on 6pm New York time.
What do I get out of these sessions?
- The feeling of belonging. That I am with people who just…well understand.
- Happiness. People are so good at sharing stories and often such funny memories which make me laugh.
- The feeling of not being alone. Listening to others show me that grief is like a roller coaster….that I am not weak, I am just grieving.
I do hope that you will join us….it is very informal and totally free!

When nothing else matters…
March 12, 2009 by Anna Farmery
Filed under Affirmations of Life, Financial Tips
Today is another one of those days, my grieving day! So I thought I would write down what I was feeling as it may help others
I sit, I stare, I try and focus
Yet nothing seems to matter anymore
I look for inspiration in the photos around me
Yet nothing seems to matter anymore.
I dig deep inside and look for your love
Because nothing else matter but that love we shared
Yet there is nothing there, nothing to hold on to
Will it be better tomorrow, next week, next month?
Because I need something, anything to hold on to
I hear your voice telling me to fight, telling me to move on
That nothing matters more than my happiness
Yet to me my happiness was you, my world was you
And in that thought I stay because
Nothing seems to matter anymore
And then in an instance I know
That our love lives on and that it is our love
That really matters, our love that will see me through

Are you seeking happiness?

Silly question really! Mind you sometimes I don’t want to be happy again as I feel the sense of loss so much. However most days I try and build just one step at a time towards that ulimate goal of happiness.
I was surfing the web today and came across a new site called Happier which has online exercise tools and tips. The goal of the site says it is to
“The happier.com team is working hard to help you “go beyond the books” and provide you with research-backed tips and tools that are proven to help increase positive emotions, boost overall levels of engagement and meaning while also enhancing the quality of relationships.”
I honestly believe that as widows and widowers we need to invest our time in learning to be happy again. If we don’t there is a danger that we start to “enjoy” the pain….I know that sounds harsh but I know for myself that I went through a stage of feeling more comfortable with the pain and no people around than to rejoin life. Now I spend 20 minutes a day doing something that will make someone else or me happy ….![]()

“Use your imagination not to scare yourself to death but to inspire yourself to life.”
Our minds are so powerful and can lead us to depression during our grief, however our mind is the same tool that will inspire us to happiness.

Where does strength come from for Grief?

- From the love that made you who you are….
- From the desire to keep their memory alive….
- From knowing that nothing, absolutely nothing, will bring them back..
- From knowing that life is too precious to give away….
- From seeing the pain of those around you, who want you to come through the pain….

- From a life history of knowing that things will “look better in the morning!”
- From focuing on what you can do rather than what you can’t change…
- From knowing that they would want you to find a happiness….
- From deep inside, from that personality that made them love you….
- From knowing that giving up will feel no better!
