Pictures in our mind our so important and I have written often on the subject. There is a wonderful quote from Arthur C Clarke that says

“The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.”

As widows or widowers, we can forget about what is possible and concentrate on what seems impossible. But over the years I have realised that the only things that are truly impossible are the ones that our minds block, that our mind talks negatively to us about.

Key is seeing a picture in your mind of you being happy…what are you doing? Once you have that picture you can work on the actions to make that happen. I have printed out the quote from Arthur C Clarke and put it on my fridge…to constantly remind me that the impossible is possible!

“The more passions and desires one has, the more ways one has of being happy.”
The issue is that one of our passions has died, the bereavement can make us feel that all our passion has disappeared. In reality that is not true. We may be going through grief, but passion is still live and well in our minds, our bodies and our soul. What we have to do as widows or widowers, is to look deep inside and find our passions again.

I came across this quote that made me think, it is by Charolotte-Catherine

“The more passions and desires one has, the more ways one has of being happy.”

The issue is that one of our passions has died, the bereavement can make us feel that all our passion has disappeared. In reality that is not true. We may be going through grief, but passion is still live and well in our minds, our bodies and our soul. What we have to do as widows or widowers, is to look deep inside and find our passions again.

Our passions were in some way tied to our loved one, but before you met them you had passions and even now you have passions. So

Grab a pen and paper

Think about what you really enjoy doing

Think about what really makes you happy

Think of ways of doing more of those items

Being happy needs work! That sounds strange but especially after grief. We need to remind ourselves of what makes our heart sing….go on try it and tell me what is your passion, what makes you smile, what makes you feel a million dollars?
