If I can find a way….

If I can take each moment at a time, then I will learn to face the world

If I can stop trying to ask why, then maybe I can accept there is no reason why

If I can love once then I can love again

If my heart and soul has got through the pain of loss, then they can face the world whatever

If I can find a way of sleeping, then my body can return to living

If I can find a way of accepting death, then I will start to enjoy life

If I let go does that mean I am uncaring?

If I don’t let go does that mean I am insane?

If I could have just one more second…it just wouldn’t be enough

A Photo Which Shows that Grief Affects Us All

I was touched by the story of a gorilla who lost her baby. You can read the story at the Mail Online where they publish this heart wrenching picture and say

“While nature may indeed be red in tooth and claw, this moving image of Gana and her dead son Claudio seems to show that members of the animal kingdom can feel the pain of loss just as deeply as we humans…For hours the distraught mother gently shook and stroked the child, vainly seeking to restore movement to his lolling head and limp arms. Visitors to the zoo openly wept as they witnessed her actions….’Gana lost a child, but I think in that loss, she taught people here so much.’ ”

Grief affects us all…..and the inexplicable nature of the death of our young can never be understood!

Their Love and Life Lives On

Mum spent New Years Eve with me as she normally does since Dad died. Normally, about 10pm she disappears to her bedroom for a few tears….and I give her a few moments then go and give her a hug. However, this year…a little sadness in the eyes but no tears. I said to her, that I was proud of how she continues to cope….

She said that the pain never goes away but your heart learns to cope with the pain…and then she said something that really touched me. “Anyway, whilst you are alive your dad is alive…I see him in your eyes, in your heart and in everything you do”

Many people do not have the gift of children but for those who do, the legacy of your loved one’s life will always live on …“in your childrens eyes and in your childrens hearts”

Congratulations on Coping with Another Year

As 2007 draws to an end we should all take a moment to say well done to ourselves. It way have been a tough year but we have got through it and shown our resilience to all the pain of bereavement. Tomorrow will not see the pain disappear but what it will do is give us the chance of seeing a new future. Tomorrow I will post about my personal hopes for 2008 and I would love you to share your thoughts with the community.

Having goals, having ideas of how to create a future on our own or at least without the love of our lives, is so important. We can never lose the past but we can focus on the future and create a future that brings us comfort and joy.
