But you know we can change our life, we can the way people look at us and react to us.

We can pull our shoulders back and our chin up…..we can walk as though we embrace life rather than suffer life.

We can smile at people when we are out and about – you will be amazed how people smile back and how your mood lifts.

We can walk towards life rather than sitting fearing life.

We can make a point of complimenting others and boosting their self esteem.

It was Eleanor Roosevelt who said “When you cease to make a contribution you begin to die” and if we are to start to live again then we need to increase our contribution to the world around us.

Gosh all this sounds so easy, of course it isn’t….but I do believe the more we contribute to life then the more life pays back with enjoyment.

This restless feeling makes it hard to relax or enjoy anything we do. In this article, I talk about a way to transcend this need by seeing it for what it is — a discomfort in our bodies that our minds translate into problems with our lives. When we focus all our attention on the physical sensation, and stop feeding it with negative thoughts, it begins to fade away.”

The first time I heard this from my spiritual mentor over 25 years ago, I had a difficult time wrapping my mind around it. It was during a time I wanted to control things that seemed uncontrollable; like people, places and things. Life was in turmoil and I simply wanted some semblance of order. It seemed the more I tried to control and the more I expected people to comply to my way of doing things, the more out of control things became. The challenge for me was understanding the difference between expectancy and expectations.”

What we don’t usually consider is who we’re talking about when we think something like “I am worthless.” In other words, what do we really mean by “I”? Regularly asking yourself this question can do much to give you a sense of peace and composure, and quiet your negative thinking.”

When there is a death, it can bring people closer together. Mainly because they are concentrating on a shared grief, a shared emotion. They can relate to each other. That is what happened to our family when my dad died…it brought us closer, we talked more, we spent more time together. But as time has gone by I have noticed that there has been a tendency to drift again. Family is so important and it would be sad to let it drift again, so I invited my sister and mum round for a meal. It was great we talked about dad, we talked about how his death has left a gap in all our lives and that we need to be there ffor each other.

My lesson here, is that grief can bring you closer which can be a positive aspect of bereavement, don’t let those old habits then start to resurface…you never know how much time you have with your family.
