Oh wow, there are times when my heart just aches at the pain of death. Rather than comment too much I will let you read a blog post from a soldier who died – he left a blog post to be published in case of his death.
Here is a snippet but suggest you read his thoughts in full -
“What I don’t want this to be is a chance for me, or anyone else, to be maudlin. I’m dead. That sucks, at least for me and my family and friends.
“What I don’t want this to be is a chance for me, or anyone else, to be maudlin. I’m dead. That sucks, at least for me and my family and friends. But all the tears in the world aren’t going to bring me back, so I would prefer that people remember the good things about me rather than mourning my loss. ”

The last phrase touched my heart like no other

“I don’t know if there is an afterlife; I tend to doubt it, to be perfectly honest. But if there is any way possible, Amanda, then I will live up to Delenn’s words, somehow, some way. I love you.”

“My family is mourning the loss of my nephew, Corporal James Mazza Jr. Jimmy was a great kid who grew up to be an outstanding young man and a proud Marine. In his passing, I have come to realize some of the great lessons I can learn from him.

“My family is mourning the loss of my nephew, Corporal James Mazza Jr. Jimmy was a great kid who grew up to be an outstanding young man and a proud Marine. In his passing, I have come to realize some of the great lessons I can learn from him.

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because is happened – Jimmy loved that line, and I can now understand how well it truly fits. Life is way to short to spend it in regret. Enjoy the gift you have today fully – consume all the adventure and joy around you…. ”

I love the idea of smiling because of what you enjoyed, what you had, how you loved…..thinking about what their love gave you rather than what their death has taken away.
