Happy Birthday to My Auntie

It is my Auntie’s birthday today. She lost her husband to Parkinson’s disease a few years ago and I have to say that I am so proud of how she has coped. She was devastated, in fact inconsolable for weeks or months, yet now she has found a new life.
She visits my uncles grave regularly, she has never forgotten the love that she shared. However, she came to realise that no amount of prayers, or no amount of wishing….could bring him back. She now belongs to community groups, she goes to exercise classes and yoga…all at the age of 77!

4 Tips on Being Heartbroken

In grief we talk about being heartbroken, what I want to suggest is that our heart is NOT broken, it is still capable of loving again, it is still beating to keep us alive. Maybe what we should say is that we are heart – cracked!
