The What if Question?

We spend so much time thinking….if only or what if we had, when in reality we cannot change the past. Each time I start to think “What if? (in relation to the past)” I stop and immediately turn it into thinking about the future rather than the past….
So I think…What if I booked a holiday next year? What if I learned a new language? What if I did more volunteer work…
I smile at the fact I am tricking my brain, but it does help you to focus on the future rather than dwellin g on the past.

I keep thinking “what if” also. Sometimes it can drive me crazy because I blame myself for not making my husband see the doctor two years ago. I keep thinking “what if he went sooner?” “what if I made him stop smaoking?’ And it just keeps going on and on.
Those “what if’s” can become endless. So I ike your suggestion to turn them into possitive “what if’s”. So what if I went back to college?….
