Thinking about my legacy…

I am a big internet user as many of you realise. The internet has been my support group, it has lifted my spirits, it has provided solace when the real world seemed to hurt too much to face!

Whilst looking round the internet I came across legacy locker that I think has the potential to be a great idea. The aim of the site is to provide

“a safe, secure repository for your digital property that lets you grant access to online assets for friends and loved ones in the event of death or disability.”

I particularly liked the section on family and friends which says

“Legacy Locker helps you pass your precious accounts safely and easily to your spouse, children, friends, or other family. You can assign any digital asset to any beneficiary you want, and know that your content will end up in the right hands. Plus, Legacy Letters let you send a special, easily editable message to anyone you know and care about.”

My writings and podcasts on the internet will become my legacy when I pass away. I had never really thought about my digital footprint as part of my legacy I had never thought about how to give access to my friends and family to a part of my life that in many ways remains separate to my real world. In fact when I start to think about my internet use, I realise that as much as it is part of my life….

Hello, Anna – I tried to post here yesterday and had some trouble with it. I love the appearance of this page – very attractive and optimistic!

Yes, the internet (and sites and people like you) have been a great comfort and resource to me. And may be my legacy, too, as I have kept a blog going for a couple of years now.

Anna, you are so giving, so supportive, and yet I know you have your own “moments”. Thank you so much for being there – for me and for many others. I don’t know how you do it.

Jessica – glad you like the new site…I didn’t like the old one as it felt too funeral parlor but then again I am dependant on others for design….like you I feel that this is more hopeful. Hope the comments thing is sorted out…I know there have been a few glitches but hopefully things will sort out soon.

I feel as though I am having too many moments for you all at the moment!!! I keep waking, opening one eye and looking to see if the positive Anna has reappeared….but then I know she will come back soon…if you see her send her home won’t you :)
